Wonderful tent..a few flaws, December 4, 2010

I bought this tent for my kids to have sleep overs in the back yard. It's huge and fits a couple of blow-up queen size mattresses and still has plenty of room to spare. It's made well. We've already used it 3-4 times within the last couple of months and no wear and tear issues to be found. It's also tall enough for the adults to stand up in. The only issues I would caution folks about are: 1.) the tent bag is just a little too small. Trying to get tent completely back into the bag has been a challenge at times. and 2.) This tent comes with partitions to create separate rooms. Those are a joke, it doesn't separate anything. Huge gaps at the bottom and sides. So those were pretty useless.

Other than those two minor comments, the tent is wonderful. Easy up, easy down. Huge and my kids (and friends) love it.

I recently bought this tent and have camped in it one time, for three days and it was awsome I love it with or without the rain cover on it. it was big enough for four people and pleanty of EXTRA room for everything and it has two places for your shoes on each sides of the door for your shoes you zip it and dont have to worry about spiders getting in them!!:) when you take off the rain cover it is like you are sleeping outside without the bugs Yahoo.... it was so nice i could live in it for awhile !! i would tell anyone to get this tent i cant wait to go again!!!

Would you choose this MSR Fury or the Mountain Hardware EV2 for winter in New England? (was thinking about EV3 in order to fit two guys and some winter gear.? Can you recommend?

@MrMattCottam, it depends on what you plan to do. The Fury is better for all-purpose winter because it has two walls, a vestibule, and works fine in any season. The EV2 has one wall, is for winter only, and has no vestibule, but is? lighter and packs smaller- it’s better for multi-day trips where weight matters more. For New England, I’d recommend the Fury. If you have the extra cash, though, the Hilleberg Jannu is well worth it.

@OogleManiac yes, most tents will work if you don’t mind the weight. However, there are other factors to consider like durability, how well the tents work in wind, and ease of set up to name a few. It all depends on what you are using? the tent for and what your priorities are.

I am 6.2 and 220 lbs. I had to sleep diagonal in this tent. I should have checked the dimensions before I bought it. It is a 2 child tent not a 2 person tent lol. It is small and light when folded up and the tent itself is the bag for the stakes/tent poles. It is a great hiking tent and I am happy with it. For 20 bux when it breaks I will get a different one, but I am satisfied for now.

The rain fly is very small and I suggest getting a tarp or large bags to actually keep the rain out. The outer tent is NOT water proof so you would have to cover the entire tent if you want to keep the rain out. That is why I give this 4 stars.
